Noah Seth Syndergaard (born August 29, 1992), nicknamed Thor, is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Toronto Blue Jays selected him in the first round of the 2010 MLB draft and traded him to the Mets in 2012.
Syndergaard made his MLB debut with the Mets on May 12, 2015, and served as their Opening Day starting pitcher in 2017 and 2018. He was named to the National League All-Star team in 2016, and has won the National League Player of the Week Award four times. Syndergaard underwent Tommy John surgery in late March 2020 and is expected to require 12 to 15 months for recovery and rehabilitation.
